• 1. Becoming a Signet Nanny

    Thank you for your interest in finding your job through Signet Nannies. If you enjoy working with children, being a nanny or babysitter is one of the most rewarding and satisfying jobs. As a caregiver for young ones, you are given the opportunity to connect and personally make a difference in the lives of children along with their families’.

    Signet Nannies represents the best applicants in the industry and we work hard to protect your interest at every stage of the hiring process. As your agent, Signet Nannies will treat you with fairness, respect and consideration. Your satisfaction is very important to us therefore we make every effort to match you with the family where your unique qualities will be appreciated. We offer continuous support to our nannies even after placement. We are committed to your growth as a professional nanny. We are available to answer any questions that you may have.

    Our minimum requirements to be considered include:
    1. Have significant childcare experience with excellent references
    2. Be CPR and first aid certified (or willing to get certified at own expense)
    3. Clean criminal record
    4. Valid Driver’s License
    5. Non-smoker
    6. Have a high School diploma (4 – year college degree preferred)
    7. Authorized to work in the U.S.

    2. Our Process

    1. We get to know you: If after reviewing your application, Signet Nannies determines that you may be a potential candidate for representation, we will invite you in for a face-to-face interview to get to know you, your background, and what you are looking for in a family and position.

    2. We find the right family for you: Based on your specific criteria, we match you with families who are looking for someone like you. Once we have found you a potential position, we submit your nanny profile to be reviewed by the family. If a family would like to meet you, we coordinate and schedule all interviews. After the interview, we follow up with both you and the family.

    3. Job Offer & Signed Contract: Should a family decide to extend an offer of employment with them and you accept, Signet Nannies will guide you through the nanny / family work agreement which define the layout of the employment relationship, expected schedule, daily duties, house rules, salary and any other topics discussed and agreed upon between the two parties. This is meant to protect both parties and to document the specifics agreed upon in the offer.

    4. Follow-Up: Signet Nannies is here to support you. Once hired, we will check in to see how things are going, inform you of nanny-related educational opportunities within the industry.

    3. Your Resume

    Submitting a well thought out child care resume is essential to being considered for representation by Signet Nannies.

    Guidelines to writing your resume:

    1. A – Personal information; full name, address, phone number and e-mail address.

    2. B – Your profile statement that also includes a list of your skills and qualifications. Your skills and qualifications should be in bulleted form.

    3. C – A description of your childcare experience. This should be in chronological order; beginning with the most recent and ending with the oldest. The description should include the name of the family, the city where the position was located, the ages of the children, when you were hired and a thorough description of your job duties and responsibilities. (The description of your job duties and responsibilities can be in bulleted form).

    4. D – Related Experience: This section should include all other professional and volunteer experience. This may or may not be directly related to child care.

    5. E – Education; List your highest level of education. This should include dates attended, degree received or coursework studied. Also, list any special certification you may have.
